How it Works
1) Soft Water:
Hard water (calcium) goes into the Brine
tank (see diagram below).
The brine tank will capture these
calcium in the tank. The water
coming out of the tank is "soft" water.
2) Flushing Calcium into
Drain:
When the Brine tank is full of calcium,
the system needs to flush/clean the
calcium into the drain. To do
this, it takes in salt water solution
from the Salt tank to help flush the
calcium into the drain. Then
after, it takes in normal cold water to
flush the salt solution from the Brine
tank.
3) Cleaning
Cycle/Regeneration:
How does the system know when to clean
the brine tank or flush the calcium into
the drain? For metered softener,
it is also call "water on demand".
You will enter the size of the softener,
the hardness of the water into the
computer, then it will calculate how
water it can produce per cleaning cycle.
The cleaning process is automatic.
4) Maintenance:
Put 4-5 bags of softener salt or softener potassium chloride
into the salt tank. This should last you 3-7 months
depending on how much water you uses.

Installation Summary: 1) The water softener unit onto your main water pipe. The unit can be anywhere on the main water line. 2) Attach the
drain line to either the floor drain or house drain
line. This is a 5/8" plastic tube available at
your hardware store.
