Why does my RO water look so white and cloudy in a glass cup? This is sometimes due to air that is trapped in the system. There is always air in city water pipes. Due to nearby constructions, changing seasons, and water quality, there can be more air in the pipes. Some of these large air bubbles are broken up into super smaller air bubbles which makes the water looks white and cloudy upon reflection of light. Also, this is more lightly to happen after installing a new system or after changing filters.
One way to check if the white cloudiness is air is to fill the cup and leave it for couple hours and see if it clears up. Also, after it clears up, run your fingers around the side and bottom of the cup to feel if there are any particles. The water should have no smell or taste, no particles. Some customers do experience this and is a normal thing. However, it is not in our position to guarantee that it is safe to drink the water because we do not know what else can be in your water and your water quality. You must make the decision yourself.
How to get rid of the trapped air in the tank? Let the system sit for 5 hours so that the tank is full, then open the faucet to let out all the water. Repeat this as needed to clear all the air bubbles from the tank. Generally, you need to empty 3 full tanks.
